SECTION 1: God the Creator
1.1 The Godhead
In the Bible we learn about the Creator and his creation.
Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” God created the world we live in. The Bible clearly teaches that God is one God.
Deuteronomy 6:4, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD”. The Bible also teaches that God is three persons.
1 John 5:7, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” God is one God in three persons, this concept is called the Godhead.
Romans 1:20, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”
The Scripture clearly teaches that the three persons of the Godhead are God the Father, God the Son (or the Word), and God the Holy Spirit. For the purpose of this booklet we will be focusing on Jesus Christ as Creator and Saviour of man.
1.2 Jesus: The Word
In the Bible, the title of
“the Word” refers to Jesus Christ.
John 1:1-3, “(1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) The same was in the beginning with God. (3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” Here we see Jesus being referred to as “the Word”. We see that Jesus (the Word) existed from the beginning, and that Jesus (the Word) created all things and without Jesus (the Word) was not anything made that was made! Jesus is not created, Jesus is the Creator.
We know that Jesus is the Word.
John 1:14-15, “(14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (15) John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.” The Bible records that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. John the Baptist was a witness to this. John was preaching about this person called the Word. He identified him as the one who was “preferred before me, for he was before me.”

John 1:29-30, “(29) The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (30) This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. When John saw Jesus he identified him as the one “preferred before me, for he was before me.” Jesus Christ is the Word that was made flesh. John identified Jesus Christ as the Word. The Word (Jesus Christ) is the Creator of everything that was created. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh.
